Sports swimming in Czechoslovakia 1918-1938
Tomšová, Petra ; Waic, Marek (advisor) ; Kasper, Tomáš (referee)
The dissertation deals with sport swimming in the Czech lands and in Czechoslovakia in the interwar period, specifically in the period of the so-called First Republic. However, the work dates back to the beginning of the 19th century, when the first, especially river, swimming pools began to be established in our territory, which were first used for swimming training of soldiers, and only at the end of the 19th century did the general public learn to swim and there are also the first swimming competitions. The greatest development of sport swimming in our territory occurred only after the First World War, when the Czechoslovak Amateur Swimming Association was founded and it sought maximum organizational, financial and material support for swimming. Our swimmers achieved the best swimming performances in the 1920s, when they were able to compete with the European swimming powers. However, they did not have the world's top swimming, which was also seen at the Olympic Games in 1920, 1924, 1928 and 1936. In the early 1930s, the performance of our swimmers began to stagnate, which could be attributed to the fact that in other countries swimming was supported in all respects, but this was not the case in the Czechoslovak Republic, from the very beginning of sport swimming in our territory. Jiroušek, Jakub ; Čechovská, Irena (advisor) ; Zenáhlík, Aleš (referee)
Title: Use of mental training by swimming coaches in the Czech Republic Objectives: The goal of the work is to find out the use of mental training by swimming coaches in the Czech Republic, both in the training and in the competition. Furthermore, the work finds out which methods coaches apply the most in both areas. Methods: In our work we used the method of questionnaire survey. A modified Questionnaire Test of Performance Strategies * 2 (TOPS * 2) was used for the survey, which determines whether the coaches know the methods of mental training and how they include them in the psychological training of the swimmer. Results: We found that most coaches are educated in mental training. Mental training is used in training and competition only sometimes. In the competition is mental training used more often than in the training. In each part of the mental training, the trainers stated at least one method or skill that they apply to their wards or themselves. Keywords: swimming, mental training, TOPS * 2

Title: Swim Smooth System and Swimming Specialization Objectives: Along with The Australian Swim Smooth Swim Type Coaching System criteria assign particular swim types to natural predispositions of selected elite swimmers and thus confirm suitability of their specialization. Methods: This work was carried out as a methodological study that explores both the suitability of specialization in a selected group of elite swimmers and the potential benefits of the Swim Smooth Swim Type System compared to the more commonly used method of one swim type. The study involved measuring, displaying, monitoring, evaluation, analysis and correlation. We measured the stroke length and stroke rate. We observed individual style of freestyle technique. We evaluated the Swim Types, somatotype, personality traits of extroversion and swimmers' potential to either speed, middle distance or endurance performance. We performed analysis of the development of swimmers' personal records in their main discipline. We determined the degree of correlation among particular Swim Type criteria that determine Swim Smooth swim types. We evaluated the swimmers' specialization suitability and outlined way of their further development. Results: Swim Smooth Swim Type System revealed the inadequacy of specialization of one swimmer. For all...

Motor testing of children in basic stage of swimming training
Trč, Stanislav ; Chrzanowská, Babeta (advisor) ; Jurák, Daniel (referee)
Title: Motor testing of children in elementary stage of swimming training Target: The main goal of the thesis is to determine level of motor skills of swimmers in elementary stage of training by means of UNIFITTEST (6-60) test battery. Findings will be compared with selected results of other groups of sporting and unsporting children age 10 - 12. Methods: Two basic methods were selected to obtain required data. A controlled interview with swimming coach was used in order to select the research group. Consequently selected swimmers were tested for motor condition according to UNIFITTEST (6 - 60) test battery (Měkota, Kovář et al. 2002). Data acquired from the selected tests were processed and graphically expressed using mathematic - statistical method. Comparative method was used to compare results of group unsporting children with selected group of children from modern pentathlon. Results: By evaluating all results from four basic tests UNIFITTEST (6 - 60) 61 % of the swimmers have acquired above average evaluation of motor performance. Comparison of swimming group and unsporting children proved better results of swimmers in 12 minute run and shudder. In other tests results of boys from swimming and unsporting children were comparable. Among girls the swimming group was significantly better. Modern...
